New Platform for Missing Persons Support Launched
A new platform regarding persons missing under special circumstances was launched in Kyiv.
This platform was introduced at a press conference in the capital by its founders from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
The new information platform dedicated to missing persons is an official resource created by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine to coordinate the search for missing individuals and provide support to their families.
«We have gathered all the necessary information that can be useful for the relatives of the missing. Our goal is to create an information bridge between the search organs and families in need of assistance. We aim to establish a close connection with people, so they know they are not alone and that the relevant authorities are doing everything possible to assist them», - stated Maryana Reva, head of the Communication Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The platform contains guidelines on how to initiate searches, file reports, submit DNA samples for identification, obtain extracts from the registry of missing persons, as well as information on rights and social guarantees.
«We have created specialized centers for searching missing persons in every investigative department of the National Police. This platform will significantly ease access for families to information about these centers and help them quickly find investigators, learn about criminal proceedings, find out how to submit biological samples, and obtain results», - said Kristina Podiryako, head of the organization of crime investigation management.
The platform will provide comprehensive information about the organizations involved in searches, whom to contact for assistance, and how to interact with law enforcement agencies.
«This is a dynamic system that aims to clarify who does what and provide up-to-date links. There are algorithms in every agency dealing with missing persons searches, and we show where family representatives can go for solving various issues and staying updated with the latest news», - noted Arthur Dobroserdov, commissioner for missing persons.
The platform is intended to be a coordinating center for searching for the missing and supporting their families, bringing together the efforts of various government bodies and NGOs.
The platform is available online on the Ministry of Internal Affairs website.
A unified registry for body (remains) identification may commence operations in Ukraine later this year.
