Explosive Hazards in Ukraine: Recent Statistics

In Ukraine, since the onset of the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation, 1,330 individuals have been recorded as victims of mines and explosive remnants, including 135 children. This information is shared by the Main Department for Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Ecological Safety on their Facebook page.
«As of October 1, 2025, due to hostile mines and explosive remnants of war, 1,330 persons have been affected, of which 135 are children and 1,195 are adults», the report states.
The highest number of casualties comes from professions such as: farmers – 243 individuals, critical infrastructure workers – 137 individuals, and drivers – 88 individuals.
Additionally, among the victims are: students – 121 individuals, unemployed – 148 individuals, and pensioners – 116 individuals.
The department noted that data collection is conducted systematically, in accordance with the requirements of Protocol II and Protocol V of the Convention on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Certain Conventional Weapons, which may cause excessive injury or have indiscriminate effects (CCW).
Ukrainian law enforcement agencies are initiating criminal proceedings regarding violations by the Russian Federation of the rules and customs of warfare in cases of detonations among the civilian population due to Russian mines.
A corresponding database and interactive map assist government and humanitarian organizations in informing the population about risks associated with explosive items and providing aid to those injured by mine-related traumas.
