Drone Attack on Zoo Director's Home in Odesa
Last night, a Russian drone struck the home of Odesa Zoo director Ihor Biljakov. Fortunately, he was unharmed, but the building was completely destroyed.
This was reported on the official page of the Odesa Zoo.
Impact on Biljakov's House
As a result of the enemy drone strike, Ihor Biljakov's house was destroyed, and his mobile phone was burned. Therefore, the zoo director is currently unreachable and cannot answer calls.
"Fortunately, the zoo director was not injured, but his phone was destroyed, so he is unable to respond to calls. We ask for your understanding in this situation," — the zoo staff stated.
Additionally, due to the attack, some of Ihor Biljakov's pets were put in danger — some went missing during the explosion. Searches are ongoing, and the institution requests anyone with information about the missing animals to come forward.
May 16 Attack
During the night, the enemy attacked the Odesa and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi regions: private homes, agricultural buildings, and a garage with three vehicles were destroyed. Fires broke out at the sites, which were extinguished by firefighters together with local volunteers. Two men and a woman sustained shrapnel injuries, blast trauma, fractures, and thermal burns. One of the injured is currently in serious condition in the hospital.
Recall that we recently reported on a serval at the Odesa Zoo that ended up in the lion enclosure next door. We also covered the aftermath of the nighttime attack.
