New Triumphs of Ukrainian Fencers at the National Cup

From October 15 to 20, the Ukraine Cup in fencing took place, marking the first national competition of the 2025-2026 season for adults.

The tournament, held at the capital's CSK ZSU sports complex, gathered 345 participants (153 women and 192 men).

The Ukraine Cup was claimed by Odesa fencer Alina Komashchuk (coaches – Oleksandr Vasyutin, Nikita Stolbunov). In the final, she defeated the 2023 trophy holder, Oleksandra Bondar from Mykolaiv. In the semifinals, Alina overcame the current Cup holder Daria Hontzova from Cherkasy with a score of 15:9. This marks Alina's second victory in the Ukraine Cup.

In the men's competition, Andriy Yahodka (coach – Oleksandr Vasyutin) secured a silver medal. He reached the finals after winning 10 matches in a row (6 in the pool stage, 4 in the main draw), but in the decisive match, he lost to Kyiv's Oleksiy Statsenko, 5:15. Previously, Andriy had won 8 of the last 10 Ukraine Cups.
