Ukrainian Championship in Freestyle Wrestling for Youth

From January 28 to February 1, the Ukrainian Championship for men and women (U23) in freestyle wrestling was held in Zhytomyr.

There were 229 athletes competing from all regions of Ukraine.

In the men's category of «up to 74 kg», a student from the Odesa Specialized Children and Youth Sports School of Olympic Reserve, Vitaliy Malenkov, participated.

Throughout the tournament, Vitaliy achieved three decisive victories with a total score of 31:0 (10:0, 10:0, 11:0). He did not allow his opponent, Bohdan Oliynyk from Poltava, to score any points in the final match, which ended in a score of 0:0. However, based on additional criteria, the athlete from Poltava won.

This achievement grants Vitaliy the honorary title of «Master of Sports of Ukraine».

The athlete was trained by coach Viktor Yefteni.
