Cyclocross is a cycling competition held on varied terrain. Cyclists on modified bicycles tackle short distances (from 2.5 to 3.5 km) with various obstacles. Women race shorter distances for 35-40 minutes, while men compete for about an hour. The average speed of cyclists is approximately 20 kilometers per hour. Cyclocross events typically occur in the fall and winter when road cyclists rest or prepare for the new season.
