Children's Road Safety Initiatives in Odesa
In Odesa, the Road Safety Month titled «Attention! Children on the Road!» has commenced.
The primary goal of this initiative is to prevent traffic accidents involving children, to instill safe road behavior, and to engage youth in understanding and adhering to road safety rules.
In the schools of the Peresyp district, lessons titled «Follow the Rules – Save Lives» and «Know the Road Signs – Avoid Trouble» have been organized, where students discussed fundamental road safety practices, watched educational videos, and participated in quizzes.
Open exhibitions of children's drawings and creative works themed «Safe Country!», «Attention! Children on the Road!», and «The Alphabet of Road Traffic» were also part of the activities.
Class teachers held discussions with students on «My Safe Journey to Knowledge» and assisted them in creating individual safe routes to school.
A highlight for the students was the introduction to a real police vehicle where they engaged with officers to reinforce pedestrian rules through games like «I Am the Regulator» and «Safety on the Road».
Inspectors explained, in an accessible and engaging manner, the importance of using reflective elements at night and emphasized the rules for crossing streets and using public transport.
For kindergarten children, thematic classes were conducted on «Attention! Children on the Road», «Know the Road Signs», and «I Am a Little Pedestrian», where children learned the basic pedestrian rules and the meaning of traffic signs.
