Annual Campaign Against Violence: A Call for Action
From November 25 to December 10, 2024, Ukraine is hosting the annual campaign «16 Days Against Violence», which Odessa has traditionally joined. The official launch of the campaign took place yesterday in the City Garden.
Various departments of the Odessa City Council, organizations engaged in domestic violence prevention, community representatives, and local residents participated in the event.
«Violence is a pressing issue worldwide, affecting everyone either directly or indirectly. It is crucial not to stay silent and to combat this disgraceful phenomenon - only then can we prevent further incidents and mitigate their effects,» - emphasized Elena Kytainska, Director of the Department of Labor and Social Policy.
During the event, specialists from mobile teams providing social-psychological support offered consultations and distributed thematic informational literature to anyone interested.
Moreover, flowers were given to women and girls as a symbol of resistance against violence.
The goal of the nationwide campaign «16 Days Against Violence» is to raise public awareness of the pressing issues related to domestic violence and gender-based violence, and to ensure equal rights and opportunities for women and men.
The campaign is organized by the Department of Labor and Social Policy of the Odessa City Council.
