Beware: New Scam Schemes Targeting PrivatBank Cardholders

How the scam unfolds

Cardholders of PrivatBank with the number 044 364 53 20 receive calls from individuals claiming to be from the «security service of PrivatBank», informing them that «several suspicious transactions have been made from their card to a hostile country within the last 20 minutes».

The scammers suggest canceling these transactions, offering insurance against fraudsters, and they pressure victims to comply with their demands, including sending a voice message and «verifying» their card details.

To gain more credibility, they provide a «personal number» that supposedly can be found on PrivatBank's website.

This way, the fraudsters aim to collect personal information from clients for further illegal activities. Bank employees never request card numbers, PIN codes, or CVV codes.

Citizens are urged never to disclose personal information and refrain from making financial transactions during calls or messages from unknown individuals.

If you receive a call from scammers, you should contact the bank's call center and report the offenders. If you have fallen victim to fraud, it is advisable to reach out to cyber police or other competent authorities.
