Strengthening Ties: Odessa and Turkey's Cooperation

On October 24, 2024, a significant meeting took place between Odessa's mayor, Gennady Trukhanov, and the newly appointed Consul General of Turkey in Odessa, Mr. Muhittin Celik. The primary goal of this meeting was to establish a connection and discuss the potential for collaboration between the two regions.

Mr. Celik emphasized the importance of Turkey's support for Ukraine during these challenging times:
«We in Turkey are closely monitoring the situation in Ukraine, and we fully support your efforts. Turkey has been providing necessary assistance to Ukraine since the annexation of Crimea in 2014, and we will continue this practice».

Mayor Gennady Trukhanov expressed his gratitude for the support provided by Turkey and highlighted the importance of further collaboration, especially in the investment sector.

«I am pleased to meet you. Turkey is one of Ukraine's most important partners, and we appreciate your assistance during this difficult time. We have received significant support, including medical supplies and humanitarian aid. We aim to attract Turkish investments into our city's economy», - stated the mayor.

Both parties expressed their readiness for further collaboration on humanitarian and economic projects in Odessa.
