Infrastructure Updates of Odesa's Underground Crossings

The municipal enterprise «Odesa Electric Enterprise» manages 12 underground crossings, 8 elevators for individuals with disabilities, 10 pumping stations, and 14 stormwater pumping stations.

The enterprise oversees 2120 lighting points, 32700 meters of cable lines, 58 pumping units, 150 electric motors ranging from 1.5 to 125 kW, and 310 power supply panels.

Staff regularly clean the areas of underground crossings and pumping stations, paint walls after vandalism incidents, remove advertising materials, conduct minor stair repairs, replace electrical equipment, and perform preventative maintenance.

Since the beginning of 2024, repairs on the stairs at the underground crossing near Odesa railway station have been completed, restoring 40 square meters of granite tiles.

Additionally, facade restoration work has been conducted on underground crossings located at: Vodoprovidna St. (12 sq. m) and Panteleimonivska St. (6 sq. m).

Current repairs of electrical equipment have been carried out in 10 underground crossings.

Moreover, staff have painted the elevators for persons with disabilities installed in the underground crossings near the railway station.

These mechanisms, like the crossings themselves, frequently suffer damage from vandals. Daily inspections reveal acts of vandalism such as broken electrical equipment, graffiti, and damaged tiles. Recent acts of vandalism were recorded on September 6 and 18.

The Odesa City Council once again urges residents and visitors to treat municipal property with care, as intentional damage leads to criminal responsibility.

Article 194. Intentional destruction or damage to property: penalties range from fines up to 850 UAH to imprisonment for up to three years.

Article 296. Hooliganism: fines from 8500 to 17000 UAH or imprisonment for up to six months.
