Arrest of Kyiv Man for Illegal Sale of Humanitarian Vehicles
In Odessa, law enforcement agencies apprehended a Kyiv resident engaged in the illegal sale of vehicles that were imported for military and charitable purposes. The man sold three cars designated for humanitarian aid. He has been charged and a preventive measure has been chosen. This crime carries a penalty of up to seven years in prison with property confiscation.
This was reported by the press service of the National Police.
Law enforcement stated that a 43-year-old Kyiv resident organized the import of vehicles into Ukraine under the guise of needing them for military units and charitable organizations, later selling them online.
During the investigation, the perpetrator was caught "red-handed" in Odessa while selling an Audi and two Mitsubishi for $16,100. As evidence, investigators seized illegally obtained money, the sold cars, and other items relevant to the case.
"The police detained the offender under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and informed him of the suspicion of selling humanitarian goods for profit during martial law. This crime is classified under part 3 of Article 201-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and is punishable by imprisonment for up to seven years, along with property confiscation", the message states.
The court chose a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention with the right to post bail amounting to 605,000 hryvnias. The full circle of individuals potentially involved in this crime is being established. The investigation is ongoing.
