Murder Investigation in Odesa: New Developments
In Odesa, police have uncovered a suspect linked to the murder of a friend. The suspect brutally killed his acquaintance using a bottle, fists, and feet after accusing him of stealing his wallet. The suspect has been formally charged, and a preventive measure has been taken. He faces up to 15 years in prison.
This was reported by the press service of the National Police of Ukraine.
Recently, a woman discovered a bloodied body of a man near a multi-storey building on Heroes of Krut Street and called the police. A forensic team and a mobile DNA laboratory were dispatched to the scene. Within half an hour, law enforcement identified a 37-year-old resident of the Kyiv district with a criminal record for theft as the suspect.
"The police determined that the night before, the suspect and a 43-year-old local friend had been drinking alcohol in a courtyard between the buildings. During the drunken gathering, the younger man could not find his wallet and began accusing the older man of theft. In the ensuing conflict, he fatally beat him with a glass bottle, fists, and feet.
The body of the deceased was sent for a forensic examination to determine the cause of death, while the suspect was found nearby and arrested. The investigators seized a wallet that the suspect overlooked in his pocket, bloody clothing, and other items relevant to the investigation," the statement said.
Investigators have charged the detained individual with intentional murder. This crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to 15 years. At the request of the investigators, the court has chosen a preventive measure of custody for the suspect.
