SECI Delegation Visits Odesa

09 October 2025

A delegation from SECI, focusing on cooperation in Southeast Europe, arrived in Odesa. The group is led by Executive Coordinator Mr. Michael Fatekas. They are delivering humanitarian supplies, including generators, computer equipment, and medical devices, to the regions of Kherson and Mykolaiv.

Mr. Fatekas confirmed that, as promised in previous meetings, a humanitarian cargo is being prepared specifically for Odesa.

During the dialogue, urgent city needs and expected challenges were discussed, particularly concerning the stability of the heating season.

“Thank you for supporting the southern communities and for our meaningful meeting. The military on the front has its tasks, and we support them in every way. But here, at home, their families, children, and displaced persons remain. We must ensure the city's vitality and are working on this despite all difficulties,” emphasized Odesa's mayor, Hennadiy Trukhanov.

Additions to energy sources, such as solid-fuel boilers, could provide crucial support for Odesa. The city currently has 8 such facilities in reserve, but considering various scenarios of attacks on critical infrastructure, the Odesa city council is discussing the possibility of increasing them for the uninterrupted functioning of social infrastructure.

“We will return to you very soon,” assured Mr. Michael Fatekas.
