New Initiative for Ensuring Safe Territories from Explosive Hazards

In December, the Registry for territories contaminated or potentially contaminated by explosive devices will commence operations, as stated by Igor Klymenko in an interview with «Unified News».

The meeting with media representatives and the Minister of Internal Affairs occurred in Cherkasy during training exercises conducted by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. Igor Klymenko emphasized that since the onset of the full-scale invasion, the SES units have cleared over 250,000 hectares of our country, recovering and eliminating 790,000 explosive devices.

The Minister also highlighted that specialists are making every effort to ensure the Registry for contaminated territories becomes operational, aiming for availability to legal entities by the beginning of 2026. After testing, access will be extended to individuals with property rights to specific land plots.

While near the location where sapper divers are trained, the Minister shared plans to increase the unit's personnel to 500 individuals. This is part of an integrated demining ecosystem:

«The demining ecosystem can be divided into several components: the Mine Action Office, the Humanitarian Demining Center, certification of specialists, and underwater demining. This system is already in place and operational», — stated Igor Klymenko.
