New Ticket Purchase Rules for Ukrainian Trains
Starting August 1, 2025, “Ukrzaliznytsia” will introduce new rules for purchasing tickets on several popular routes, including Odessa to Kyiv and Lviv. Verification through the “Diia.Signature” service will be mandatory in test mode.
Verification Requirement
To reduce abuse, passengers will need to verify their identity to buy or return tickets for specific trains. This applies to the following routes:
- №105/106 Odessa – Kyiv;
- №12 Lviv – Odessa;
- №91/92 Lviv – Kyiv;
- №29/30 Kyiv – Uzhhorod;
- №27/28 Kyiv – Chop.
It is important to note that ticket purchases through ticket offices will be unavailable for these routes.
Rules for military personnel remain unchanged, allowing them to purchase tickets through special services.
Issues with Ticket Purchases
Every summer, Ukrainians encounter difficulties when buying tickets for popular routes. This year, demand has surged, and “Ukrzaliznytsia” explains the situation:
An abnormal load on routes like Yaremche has reached 460%. Many organized groups, internally displaced families, and children of military personnel are utilizing train services.
To meet demand, the company has increased the number of trains and added new services on popular routes.
However, the situation is complicated by scalpers. Thousands of accounts have been blocked for rule violations.
Call for Online Purchases
“90% of sales occur online,” – railway representatives state.
Users are also encouraged to utilize the “Auto Purchase” service, which automatically buys tickets that are returned.
