Increased Electricity Consumption in Ukraine Due to Heatwave
On July 25, electricity consumption in Ukraine surged due to the heatwave affecting the country.
This was reported by the National Energy Company "Ukrenergo" via their Facebook page.
"Electricity consumption is trending upwards. Today, July 25, as of 9:30 AM, it was 6.9% higher than at the same time yesterday – Thursday. The reason is the heat across Ukraine and cloudy weather with rain in parts of the western and northern regions, which reduces the efficiency of household power stations and increases reliance on the national grid," the statement said.
Yesterday, July 24, the daily consumption peak was recorded in the evening, exceeding the previous day's maximum by 1.7%.
Ukrenergo reminded that the Ukrainian energy system is still recovering from recent massive missile and drone attacks by Russia. Emergency restoration work at energy facilities is ongoing.
The company emphasized the need for energy conservation today and urged the public to limit the use of high-power appliances until 10 PM.
