Fire Incidents in Odesa Region: Six Cases in One Day
In the past day, six significant fires occurred in the Odesa region. The fires affected dry grass, bushes, forest belts, hay, buildings, and fields with rapeseed across dozens of hectares. Numerous units of equipment and rescuers were involved in the firefighting efforts, as reported by the State Emergency Service.
Yesterday, July 9, in the vicinity of the village of Znamianka, a fire broke out on an area of 27 hectares, including 3 hectares of forest belt. Due to strong winds, rescuers operated under an increased alert level.
"Firefighters extinguished the fire. No casualties were reported. Seven units of equipment and 28 rescuers from the State Emergency Service were involved," the agency reported.
During the day, a fire also broke out in the vicinity of the village of Lymanske, affecting an area of 8 hectares.
"Rescuers extinguished the fire. No injuries or fatalities were reported. The cause of the fire was careless handling of fire by an unidentified individual. Three units of equipment and 12 firefighters from the State Emergency Service were involved," the statement said.
In the vicinity of the village of Siliivka, dry grass, bushes, and remnants of hay caught fire over a total area of 24 hectares, along with the roof of a non-residential building measuring 100 m².
"During the firefighting efforts, two fields of wheat totaling 50 hectares were saved. No casualties were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Three units of equipment and 12 firefighters from the State Emergency Service were involved," the State Emergency Service reported.
In the village of Travneve, a fire involving dry grass, bushes, and a rapeseed field broke out, affecting an area of 17 hectares. Rescuers managed to extinguish the fire.
"The cause of the fire and damages are being determined. No injuries were reported. Two units of equipment and 10 firefighters from the State Emergency Service were involved," the statement said.
Yesterday, July 9, in the vicinity of the village of Mykhailivka, dry grass and bushes caught fire in isolated areas, with the fire covering 10 hectares. No casualties were reported.
"The cause of the fire was careless handling of fire by an unidentified individual. One unit of equipment and 4 firefighters from the State Emergency Service were involved, along with 2 units of equipment and 20 local residents," the agency noted.
In the vicinity of the village of Burdynove, a fire involving dry grass and bushes broke out, affecting an area of 10 hectares. Rescuers extinguished the fire.
"The cause of the fire is under investigation. No casualties were reported. Four units of equipment and 14 firefighters from the State Emergency Service were involved," the State Emergency Service reported.
