New Inclusive Train Car by Ukrzaliznytsia
The new train car by Ukrzaliznytsia can be reserved, while in normal operation, the compartments will be used under standard conditions.
This car is fully adapted for passengers in wheelchairs, featuring 6 sleeping berths in each compartment. The space is organized to comfortably accommodate two wheelchair users and two companions. If inclusive spaces are not needed during the journey, the maximum capacity will be 6 passengers.
Main features of the new train car include:
- Electric lift with a capacity of 300 kg;
- Wide doors and corridors;
- Navigation in Braille;
- Spacious restroom with shower and support for crutches;
- Restroom occupancy indicator;
- Individual USB sockets;
- Adjustable seating;
- Separate lighting control;
- Video surveillance.
The car was manufactured at the wagon depot in Bakhmach over a period of three months. Ukrzaliznytsia also consulted organizations that assist people with disabilities to consider their needs.
This project is part of Ukrzaliznytsia's program to ensure accessibility in rail transport for all demographics, especially for people with limited mobility. The company plans further upgrades to create comfortable conditions for all passengers.
