Fires in Odesa Region: Consequences and Casualties
In the Odesa region, four separate fire incidents occurred over the past day, leading to significant losses in land and the tragic loss of one life. Three individuals suffered burns due to the flames. The fires took place in the Rozdilna, Odesa, Izmail, and Beryslav districts, as reported by the State Emergency Service.
On July 7th, during the day, outside the village of Novopetryvka in the Rozdilna district, stubble, shrubs, and a forest belt burned over an area of 23 hectares. Firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze. The cause of the fire and the extent of damages are currently being investigated. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries. Five units of equipment and 15 firefighters were involved in the operation.
Also on July 7th, outside the village of Velyki Lonzaky in the Odesa district, stubble burned over an area of 2.5 hectares along with four abandoned outbuildings. Firefighters successfully extinguished the fire.
"As a result of attempting to extinguish the fire independently, a woman born in 1955 suffered burns of the I-II degree to both lower limbs and was hospitalized. Four units of equipment and 17 firefighters were involved", - the agency reported.
In the village of Broska in the Izmail district, on July 7th, dry grass burned over an area of 2.5 hectares, alongside two abandoned buildings on the territory of a dacha cooperative. The firefighters extinguished the fire.
"Unfortunately, at the scene, the body of a woman born in 1947 was found, who likely attempted to extinguish the fire herself. Two units of equipment and 7 firefighters were engaged, along with one unit of equipment and 2 personnel from the local fire team "Ozerne", and one unit of equipment and 2 personnel from the local fire team "Katlabuh"", - the press service reported.
In the evening of July 7th, in the village of Novosvitivka in the Beryslav district, stubble burned over an area of 2.5 hectares. During the independent firefighting efforts, two underage girls aged 17 and 15 were hospitalized due to poisoning from combustion products. Three units of equipment and 10 firefighters were involved in the operation.
