Odesa’s Initiatives for Accessibility

Odesa has recently launched a project to ensure unimpeded access. The first information signs have been installed in key areas covering areas with heavy pedestrian traffic, social institutions, hospitals and educational institutions.

The Barrier-Free Route project is constantly being improved.

Today, the second stage of implementation has started: Movement Without Barriers volunteers have marked special visual signs at transport stops, in the courtyards of residential complexes and near important social facilities. These markers will help people with limited mobility to find their way around.

The initiative is being implemented in Odesa with the support of Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov. Coordination is provided by the Barrier-Free Council, which includes experts, veterans and NGO representatives.
