New Regulations on Vehicle Access in Kuyalnik National Park
New Regulations on Vehicle Access in Kuyalnik National Park
In Kuyalnik National Park, authorities have intensified monitoring of vehicle access to protected areas. This is not just about formal restrictions — according to law No. 4188-IX, off-roading, motocross, ATVs, and any other transport (except service vehicles) are prohibited in the nature reserve.
The national park covers approximately 10,800 hectares, but the protected zone is about 3,500 hectares. These are primarily remote and hard-to-reach areas where strict environmental protection rules apply. In the remaining areas used by communities or sanatoriums, there are restrictions, but not a complete ban on entry.
Which vehicles are prohibited from entering the protected lands?
- Entry of cars, ATVs, motorcycles, and pickups — everywhere it is not permitted by law.
- Conducting competitions and mass events that involve access to protected natural areas.
- Even test drives are monitored — for instance, an auto dealer was forced to change location after discussions with the park administration.
Why is this important?
Such entries compact the soil, destroy vegetation, and frighten wildlife. On the slopes of the estuary, lizards and snakes die under the wheels of vehicles, including species listed in the Red Book of Ukraine.
What are the fines?
- 153–408 UAH for individuals;
- 255–510 UAH for officials;
Environmental damage compensation is also provided. For every 100 meters of illegal passage:
- motorcycle — 4020.80 UAH;
- passenger car — 6428.80 UAH;
- truck — 8848.00 UAH.
Who is monitoring?
Violations are tracked by the state protection service of the national park, the environmental inspection, and the police. Event organizers are monitored on social networks, and initial attempts are made to negotiate with them. However, repeated violations can lead to fines and even confiscation of vehicles.
Kuyalnik is not a racing track
Kuyalnik National Park is a natural area that requires protection. If the destruction is not stopped now, the region will lose unique ecosystems and the healing properties of the estuary. Everyone who wants Kuyalnik to remain vibrant must start with responsibility.
