New Park for Odesa: Azerbaijani Initiative

The Mayor of Odesa, Hennadiy Trukhanov, met with Aiyaz Aliyev, a board member of the public organization «Birlik».

During the meeting, they discussed plans for creating the Azerbaijani park near the 4th station of the Great Fountain. This green area has officially been named «Azerbaijani Park» since 2013 but the implementation of beautification projects has been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing war.

Currently, the Azerbaijani diaspora in Odesa, which consists of over 30,000 people, has presented a new concept for the park. This includes not only the establishment of a recreational area but also the creation of a memorial for Azerbaijanis who lost their lives in the Russo-Ukrainian war. All work is to be funded by the diaspora itself.

«We will collaborate with our partners, as Odesa already has a great tradition of parks created by friends of our city. This is how the Istanbul Park and the Greek Park were established, and now we are looking at the Azerbaijani Park,» noted Hennadiy Trukhanov.

The park will be located next to the Odesa racetrack and will cover an area of over 2 hectares.
