New Insights on Gastroscopic Procedures in Odesa

28 October 2024

Last year, Odesa conducted 12,390 gastroscopic examinations, uncovering 240 suspicions of gastrointestinal cancer.

Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (gastroscopy) is a procedure that examines the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum using an endoscope. This technique is crucial for early diagnosis of gastritis, ulcers, and tumors.

It is recommended to undergo gastroscopy after the age of 50, even in the absence of complaints. If you are under 50 but your doctor deems it necessary, you should obtain a referral to schedule an appointment at a healthcare facility contracted with the National Health Service of Ukraine.

This service is provided on an outpatient basis. If you are receiving inpatient treatment, gastroscopy can also be performed free of charge with a doctor’s referral.

Modern video gastroscopes have been purchased for healthcare facilities in Odesa using municipal budget funds. A referral from a family doctor is required for free gastroscopy.

Free gastroscopy can be accessed by appointment at the following addresses:
