Fighting for Life: New Horizons in Medicine

21 July 2025

The Oncology Center and the Department of Child Psychiatry — places where the fight for life continues daily. The regional administration — actively supports these initiatives.

Alexander KHARLOV, the First Deputy Head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, along with Oksana ROKUNETS-SOROCHAN, the Director of the Health Department, visited two medical facilities that provide hope and a chance for recovery.

Odesa Regional Oncology Center

During the visit, the technical equipment and conditions for patients undergoing radiation therapy were checked. This is a critically important stage of treatment.

According to the Medical Guarantee Program, patients can receive the following services for free:

  • oncologist consultation;
  • CT scan;
  • preparation for radiation therapy with precise positioning.

Each radiation session is not just a procedure; it is a real fight for life.

Odesa Regional Children's Clinical Hospital — updated psychiatric department

Since July 1, 2025, a modern inpatient psychiatric department for children has been operating here. This is a place where the battle for children's emotional well-being and their right to a happy childhood continues daily.

The department has 25 beds, state-of-the-art equipment, and a team of specialists, including psychiatrists and speech therapists. It's about support and understanding, not just treatment.

Although renovations are still ongoing, assistance is provided with care. Inclusion, accessibility, and telemedicine are implemented here. Many children have already received help or are currently under the supervision of a professional team.

During the visits, important issues and future plans were discussed with the doctors. By changing conditions, we change lives for the better.

Special thanks to all concerned citizens of Odesa region for their contributions to improving medical services. We are always open to dialogue and ready for cooperation.
