New Cardiology Department Opens in Odessa

At the start of the year, a new cardiology and cardiac surgery department was established at the Odessa City Clinical Hospital No. 11.

Providing high-quality medical care to patients with cardiovascular diseases is a vital focus of this multidisciplinary cluster hospital.

The new department is capable of offering cardiac surgical assistance to approximately 1,000 patients annually. Medical services are provided free of charge under the state medical guarantee program.

The existence of a dedicated cardiac surgical service allows for the implementation of organ transplantation initiatives.

The cardiology and cardiac surgery department has already successfully performed its first surgery, implanting a dual-chamber pacemaker.

According to the department head, Natalia Mojei, the procedure was carried out on an 80-year-old woman with complete atrioventricular block. The intervention was performed based on urgent medical indications in line with international and national clinical guidelines. The patient's condition has significantly improved, and she will be discharged in just a few days.

Such surgeries mark an important step in the advancement of specialized cardiac surgical care in Odessa.
