Updates to Microsoft Authenticator App
Microsoft has announced crucial updates regarding its Authenticator app.
Starting June 2025, the app will no longer support password storage, with autofill capabilities ending in July. By August, saved passwords will be inaccessible. This implies that all generated passwords will be deleted, and access to stored passwords and autofill will be restricted to the Microsoft Edge browser. Meanwhile, Authenticator will continue to support access keys.
Users are advised to back up all their passwords to prevent losing access to important accounts such as email and banking services. Additionally, starting in July, all payment information will be removed from the app.
For autofilling passwords, Microsoft also suggests using alternative password managers like Google Password Manager or iCloud Keychain.
