Ukraine Successfully Repatriates Bodies of Fallen Soldiers

Recently, Ukraine succeeded in repatriating the bodies of 909 fallen soldiers who lost their lives on various fronts.

This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

Details of the fallen soldiers' repatriation

The bodies were recovered from the following regions:

  • Kurakhivskyi
  • Pokrovskyi
  • Bakhmutskyi
  • Vuhledarskyi
  • Luhansk
  • Zaporizhzhia
  • Sumy
  • Kharkiv.

Additionally, bodies were returned from morgues located in Russia.

The repatriation process was facilitated by the Coordination Headquarters, the Ministry of Reintegration, the authorized representative for missing persons, in collaboration with the Joint Center at the SBU, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and various government and international organizations.

The bodies will be transported to designated state institutions where law enforcement and forensic experts will identify the deceased.

After identification, the bodies of Ukraine's fallen defenders will be handed over to their families for burial.

Previous repatriation efforts - what is known

On March 28, 909 bodies of fallen Ukrainian soldiers were repatriated.

On February 14, Ukraine managed to return 757 bodies of soldiers who had fallen in various theaters.

On January 24, another 757 bodies were repatriated.

On December 20, 503 bodies of Ukrainian soldiers were returned.

On November 29, 502 bodies of the Armed Forces were repatriated.

On November 8, 563 fallen soldiers were returned.

On October 18, 501 bodies of Ukrainian soldiers were repatriated.

On August 2, 250 bodies of fallen soldiers from various areas, including Luhansk, Bakhmut, and others, were brought back.

On June 14, 254 fallen defenders were returned to Ukraine, with subsequent identification before being handed over to their families.
