Extension of Martial Law in Ukraine: New Proposals

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has introduced new bills in the Parliament aimed at extending the martial law and general mobilization in the country for an additional 90 days. If approved, these measures will last until August 6, 2025.

Martial law and mobilization extended in Ukraine

As of Tuesday morning, April 15, both documents have been sent for review to the relevant Committee of the Parliament on national security, defense, and intelligence. The texts propose to approve presidential decrees concerning the extension of martial law and mobilization for a period of 90 days.

According to the text of the bill regarding the extension of general mobilization (likely numbered 13173), this law is set to come into effect on May 9, 2025, following its announcement through media channels.

The bill on the extension of martial law (likely numbered 13172) is expected to take effect “from the day of its publication” after approval by the Parliament and signing by the President.

Continuing mobilization and martial law in Ukraine: what is known

On February 5, the President of Ukraine signed laws extending mobilization and martial law until May 9, 2025.

On November 6, Zelensky signed laws extending mobilization and martial law until February 7, 2025.

Previously, the Parliament approved a law confirming the President's decree to extend the martial law in Ukraine from November 10 for 90 days.
