Return of Military Remains: A Significant Step for Ukraine
On October 23, Ukraine received 1000 remains that, according to Russian sources, belong to Ukrainian soldiers. This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
The investigative and expert institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will conduct all necessary examinations to identify the repatriated remains soon.
The repatriation process involved the Coordination Headquarters, the Joint Center of the Security Service, the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of the Human Rights Commissioner, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Missing Persons in Special Circumstances, the State Emergency Service, and other security and defense structures.
The Coordination Headquarters also expressed gratitude for the assistance of the International Red Cross.
The Armed Forces are transporting the repatriated remains to state specialized institutions and organizing the transfer of the deceased to law enforcement and forensic experts within the Ministry of Health system.
