Attack on Energy Networks: New Assault on Compressor Station

In the night of August 6, Russia carried out a targeted attack on a compressor station operated by Ukraine's GTS Operator in the Odesa region, near the Ukrainian-Romanian border.

This was announced by the Ministry of Energy.

According to the ministry, this facility was part of a route connecting Greek LNG terminals with Ukrainian gas storage facilities via the Trans-Balkan pipeline, which has already received LNG from the USA and test volumes of Azerbaijani gas.

Last night, the equipment that ensures these supplies was attacked by dozens of strike drones, the Ministry of Energy emphasized.

“The massive Russian drone attack on a key compressor station of the Trans-Balkan route indicates that Moscow will use all available means to undermine the energy independence of Europeans and alternative gas supply routes,” noted the head of the ministry, Svitlana Hrynchuk.

“If the Russians are allowed to strike our energy infrastructure with impunity, no infrastructure in Europe will be safe,” she stressed.
