Rescue of Defenders: New Exchange Phase

On July 23, the ninth phase of the exchange took place, as agreed during discussions in Istanbul.

President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this through his Telegram channel.

Returning home are critically ill and severely injured defenders. We can confidently say that over 1000 of our people have been brought back during all phases of the Istanbul agreements. For thousands of families, this is a moment of joy to embrace their loved ones again. Thanks to everyone who worked on this.

The warriors returning today defended Ukraine across various front lines. Many have been in captivity for more than three years. All will receive the necessary medical aid and support.

It is crucial that exchanges continue and our people are coming back home. Thank you to everyone who is involved in this incredibly important work. Bringing all our people back is a priority for the state. We will continue all efforts to ensure that every one of our citizens returns from captivity.
