Young Athletes Shine at the National School Leagues
Young athletes from Odessa are showcasing their talents at the «National School Leagues».
The opening of the III (city) stage of the «National School Leagues» took place at Lyceum No. 84 in Odessa.
This year, more than 260 school teams will compete in sports such as basketball, volleyball, futsal, orienteering, rugby, handball, cheerleading, athletics, and chess.
Last year, the number of teams was 119, indicating a growing enthusiasm among Odessa's students.
«Sports strengthen not just the body but also the spirit. Involving students in sports lays the foundation for their future success,» said Odessa's Mayor Gennady Trukhanov.
The Mayor also reminded that Odessa is among the first cities to implement the «Path to Champions» project, aimed at preparing Olympic champions from school.
The event was part of a unified physical education lesson titled «Odessa's Education on a Sporting Wave,» organized by the Department of Education and Science of the Odessa City Council.
