Alina Komashchuk Wins Bronze at World Fencing Championship

Odessa athlete Alina Komashchuk has secured a bronze medal at the world fencing championship taking place in Tbilisi (Georgia).

The 32-year-old athlete from the Odessa regional school of higher sports mastery «Olympian» began her medal journey in the 1/32 finals, defeating German fencer Elisabeth Gette (15:7). In the 1/16 finals, she was defeated by Chinese fencer Fu Yin (15:6), but in the 1/8 finals, she triumphed over the reigning world champion Misaki Emura from Japan (15:12). In the quarter-finals, Alina won against French fencer Sarah Balcer (15:7), but in the semi-finals, she ultimately lost to Polish representative Zuzanna Czeslar (12:15).

This medal is Alina Komashchuk's first individual award at world championships.
