New Funding for School Transport in Ukraine

29 April 2025

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved a new funding plan for the purchase of school buses in 2025.

These funds will be allocated to ten regions that urgently need to update their vehicle fleets for transporting students and teachers.

This decision marks an important step towards ensuring quality and safe education for every child, regardless of their place of residence or security conditions.

The subsidy will allow communities to acquire new school buses, including those specially equipped for children with special educational needs. Purchases will be made under co-financing conditions from local budgets and through the Prozorro Market, significantly reducing the processing times.

The buses will be provided to:

  • Dnipropetrovsk region
  • Zaporizhzhia region
  • Kirovohrad region
  • Mykolaiv region
  • Odesa region
  • Sumy region
  • Kharkiv region
  • Khmelnytskyi region
  • Cherkasy region
  • Chernihiv region

The total amount of the allocated subsidy is 273.7 million UAH.

This is part of a larger government program, which allocates 1.6 billion UAH in 2025 for the purchase of over 500 buses for communities. Priority will be given to hub schools, military lyceums, institutions accepting students from other territories, and schools that have lost transport due to the war. It should be noted that since the beginning of the year, communities have already purchased 110 buses.
