Exploring Forensics: Youth Dive into Investigation Careers

In the Berezivskyi, Odesa, and Podilskyi regions, young learners immersed themselves in the world of forensics. This event provided them with the opportunity to learn about various methods of crime investigation, understand the importance of upholding the law, and possibly choose their future profession.

At meetings held in educational institutions and local police stations, the youth discovered that forensic experts must be skilled in crime scene examination, adept at using technical devices, documenting and classifying evidence, and analyzing information. The quality of their work significantly impacts the resolution of crimes, and specialists shared personal stories, illustrating how seemingly trivial evidence often plays a crucial role in identifying offenders.

The participants learned about the protocols police follow at crime scenes, how evidence is collected, and even tried their hand at fingerprinting. Many were eager to practice finding fingerprints of a hypothetical suspect at a simulated crime scene.

Law enforcement also showcased the latest technology they utilize in their work: electrostatic lifting mats for detecting shoe prints, rapid tests for checking substances for narcotics, drones for assessing areas affected by shelling, floods, or fires, mobile DNA laboratories, and more.
