Exploring the Fascinating World of Forensics for Students

A recent event was held at one of the local gymnasiums, organized by forensic specialists from the Criminal Security Sector of the Odessa District Police Department No. 1, Captain Maxim Pasichny and Senior Lieutenant Yuliya Sokerchak.

The specialists shared with the students methods of collecting and preserving evidence, which are crucial for solving crimes. Special attention was given to the traces left by offenders at crime scenes. The forensic experts demonstrated how to properly lift fingerprints and explained their significance.

«Everyone had the chance to take on the role of a forensic specialist and perform fingerprinting on their classmates. The students quickly realized that quality evidence collection is key to solving crimes, so they approached the task with seriousness, as if they were truly working with a suspect», - noted Captain Maxim Pasichny.

The students were particularly interested in the real experiences of police officers, which highlighted the importance of prompt forensic work in serious crime investigations. The law enforcement officers showed a video of the work of a forensic expert from the National Police of Ukraine involved in high-profile cases, including examinations of missile strike sites.

As graduates face the tough choice of profession, at the end of the meeting, the police talked about the educational opportunities within the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, which train future police officers and facilitate their employment.

«I believe that such meetings help young people consciously choose their future profession. I would be glad if, after this event, any of the gymnasium students decided to join the ranks of the National Police of Ukraine», - concluded Senior Lieutenant Yuliya Sokerchak.
