Details: The Ukrainian president's office confirmed that the meeting took place but did not disclose any specifics. According to reports, it lasted 15 minutes.
This meeting was the first after a serious confrontation in the Oval Office in Washington in February and occurred at a critical moment for peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.
"President Trump and President Zelensky met privately today and had a very fruitful discussion. More details will be shared later," said Stephen Chung, the White House communications director.
Trump, who urges both sides to reach a ceasefire agreement, stated on Friday that there had been productive talks between his envoy and the Russian leadership and called for a high-level meeting between Kyiv and Moscow to finalize an agreement.
Earlier, media reported that the Trump administration handed Ukraine a one-page document in Paris, presented as a "final proposal" for peaceful resolution. Among other points, the US is prepared to recognize Russia's control over Crimea and ease sanctions against Moscow.
President Zelensky stated on April 24 that the US proposed its strategy regarding Ukrainian territories during negotiations in London, but according to him, after the US proposal, "another paper emerged".
