Collaboration Between Odesa and Moldova: New Horizons

24 September 2025

The Mayor of Odesa, Hennadiy Trukhanov, held a meeting with leaders of the Moldovan communities of Leova, Tudora, and Stefan-Voda – Oleksandr Buzhoryan, Veronika Mokan, and Vladislav Kocu respectively.
This event was part of inter-municipal cooperation and an agreement signed during a roundtable dedicated to strengthening partnerships between Ukraine and Moldova.
Participants discussed community development and shared interests, particularly the 20,000-strong Moldovan community residing in the Odesa region.
Veronika Mokan emphasized that the border village of Tudora has welcomed twice as many Ukrainian refugees as its population since the onset of the war and continues to provide support.
Mayor Vladislav Kocu of Stefan-Voda personally organized humanitarian aid for Ukraine, maintaining constant communication with Ukrainian communities.
The parties also addressed common challenges in the path towards European integration. Mayor Oleksandr Buzhoryan of Leova shared insights into the administrative-territorial reform in Moldova.
Additionally, they focused on energy security, transportation corridor development, infrastructure modernization, and safety issues. The main goal is to find solutions based on trust, solidarity, and shared European values.
