Tribute to Colonel Oleksandr Yaitzko: A Life of Service
We regret to announce the passing of Colonel Oleksandr Yaitzko, who served in the Southern Regional Administration of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. The farewell military ritual took place in Odesa near the Officers' House.
This was reported by the press service of the State Border Guard Service.
Family, friends, and colleagues gathered to pay their respects. The border guard chaplains conducted the memorial service. His burial took place in the village of Ovidiopol at the local cemetery with full military honors.
Oleksandr Mykolayovych lived a vibrant and active life. He chose the path of a border officer, organizing border security across the west, east, and south of the country. He was also a lecturer at a border guard university. In 2014, he volunteered to serve on the eastern border in the «Border» group to defend Ukraine from Russian aggression. Colonel Yaitzko performed tasks in the Mariupol direction, where he went on reconnaissance with a group and fell into an enemy ambush. He was a prisoner for less than a year. When Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Oleksandr immediately expressed his desire to return to the eastern part of the country to the hottest spots, feeling that he was needed there. In January 2024, he was transferred to the Southern Regional Administration, where he served until his last days.
Oleksandr dedicated his life to serving his homeland, faithfully and devotedly fulfilling his duty to protect it.
