City Day Awards in Odessa
On September 2, during the City Day celebrations, the traditional awarding ceremony took place at the Exchange Square, honoring members of the Odessa community.
The title of «Honorary Citizen of Odessa» was awarded to Ruven Shvartsman.
Ruven Shvartsman is an individual who endured the horrors of the ghetto but remained resilient. He dedicated his life to public service, the pursuit of truth, and the preservation of Holocaust victims' memories. His voice, notably his speech in the German Bundestag, aids Ukraine in garnering true support from international partners.
The Honorary Award of the Odessa Mayor «ODESSA» was presented to Mariluize Beck, director for Eastern and Central Europe at the Center for Liberal Modernity. She received the award for her comprehensive support of the Odessa people during wartime and her significant contribution to fostering collaboration with German partners, maintaining a positive image of Odessa in Europe.
The Honorary Award of the Odessa Mayor «ODESSA» was given to Paul Hoggins, a city council member and former mayor of Bristol, for his unwavering support of the people of Odessa during challenging times. Paul Hoggins brought a gift to City Day — two fire trucks for the rescue services in Odessa.
The Honorary Award named after Hryhoriy Hryhorovych Marazli II degree was awarded to Leonid Kryuchkov, chairman of the supervisory board of LLC «STIKON», Honorary Citizen of Odessa. This award was given for his years of diligent work, high professionalism, and significant contribution to the development of the construction sector, the restoration of housing stock, cultural heritage sites, and the city’s social infrastructure.
