Tragic Loss: Teacher Killed in Attack
As a result of a nighttime strike on Odesa on June 28, a teacher and her husband, Kateryna Borsynska and Valentyn, lost their lives.
The city mayor, Hennadiy Trukhanov, along with the teacher's colleagues, confirmed this tragic news.
"Last night, we lost a precious colleague, a caring mentor for children, a wonderful person with a big heart, and a professional educator, Kateryna Valentynivna Borsynska.
This is an immense loss for everyone who knew her: a responsible, honest, and kind person; a creative educator and a professional in her field," stated the Odesa "Mykhailivskyi" Lyceum.
Journalist Zoya Kazanji shared that shortly after the start of the full-scale invasion, Kateryna and Valentyn welcomed a granddaughter, whom they "only had three years to cherish".
"Along with her is her husband Valentyn. Two people whose love should have continued to warm their loved ones for a long time. They moved from Kryvyi Rih to Odesa. We are sorry we couldn't protect you," wrote Oleksandr Lonchak, director of the Odesa Regional Department of Education.
It is worth noting that on the night of Saturday, Russia struck an apartment building in Odesa with a drone. The 7th, 8th, and 9th floors caught fire due to the attack. Local residents found themselves trapped in their apartments.
Rescuers managed to recover the bodies of the couple from under the rubble. As a result of the attack, another 17 individuals were injured, including three boys aged 3, 7, and 14 years. Three of the injured are in critical condition.
