Gennadiy Trukhanov Awarded "Man of the Year - 2024"

The mayor of Odessa, Gennadiy Trukhanov, has been awarded the prestigious title of «Person of the Year - 2024» in the category of «Mayor». The award ceremony took place in Kyiv.

Gennadiy Trukhanov expressed his gratitude for the recognition, stating that this award symbolizes trust:

«I am thankful to every resident of Odessa, every Ukrainian who works for the benefit of our community. This award isn't just mine; it's a recognition of all of us, our resilience and strength. Odessa is the only city in the world after which we lovingly say the word «Mom». Today, Odessa-Mom cares for everyone: for those who have found a second home here, for those in need of support. Odessa ranks third among cities in providing assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and is developing a strong rehabilitation base. We are preparing the city for the health season and, together with veterans, have established the Accessibility Council».

Gennadiy Trukhanov also thanked the military and invited them to Odessa for recuperation. He shared his most painful thoughts:

«Here, we heard words about the difficulty of burying comrades. I feel the same way. But now I know that nothing is more terrible than burying children we pull from the rubble. I am confident that victory will be ours, and every murderer, these monsters, will face justice – earthly, from our Heroes, and heavenly».

The national program «Person of the Year» is an award that recognizes significant professional and socially relevant achievements of citizens. It was established in 1996. The category «Mayor» acknowledges community leaders who have made substantial contributions to the development of cities, improving infrastructure, and enhancing the quality of life for residents.
