Innovative Approaches to Veteran Rehabilitation in Ukraine
An important meeting took place at the «Protez Foundation», focusing on pre-prosthetic preparation. Veterans with prosthetics, representatives from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, and medical institutions participated in the event.
The meeting began with an introduction to the work of the «Protez Foundation» prosthetics center. Participants had the opportunity to see the process of prosthesis manufacturing and the latest rehabilitation technologies.
"Pre-prosthetic preparation is the most critical stage in the prosthetics process for our defenders,” noted the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Inna Yashchuk.
The foundation's president, Yuriy Aroshidze, emphasized that the waiting list for prosthetics currently exceeds 2000 individuals. The discussion on a multidisciplinary approach to rehabilitation was a key focus of the meeting.
“We are grateful to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine for their support in the rehabilitation of our defenders. We want our military to feel that the entire system is working for them,” stated Yuriy Aroshidze.
Particular attention was given to the role of social workers in the physical and psychological rehabilitation of veterans and their reintegration into civilian life.
Modern approaches to treating chronic pain in military personnel suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) were also discussed. Experts shared new methods that significantly improve patients' quality of life.
«We are thrilled that nearly 40 of our physical therapy specialists have received training in the USA. They gained valuable knowledge and practical experience,» emphasized Inna Yashchuk.
Such meetings contribute to the development of an effective support system for veterans and ensure a comprehensive approach to their rehabilitation.
