Tragedy at a Celebration: Teen Sustains Serious Injuries

Authorities have charged a 19-year-old resident of the Odesa region with causing serious bodily harm to his underage friend. During a birthday celebration, the offender stabbed the victim in the chest with a knife. He faces up to eight years in prison for his actions.

According to police reports, the incident happened a few days ago in a village of the Bilyaivka community, where a group of boys aged 17, 18, 19, and 21 were celebrating a friend's birthday at a private residence. A dispute arose between two friends, aged 19 and 17, escalating into a fight. During the altercation, the older boy grabbed a knife from the table and stabbed the younger one in the chest.

"The friends of the victim helped him get home, where his mother quickly took him to the hospital. Medical staff diagnosed him with a penetrating stab wound to the chest," the report stated.

Realizing the severity of his actions, the offender returned home and called the police. Officers arrived at the scene, established the circumstances, seized the weapon used, and collected other evidence. The perpetrator was also tested for intoxication – he was found to be under the influence.

"Based on the evidence collected, we charged the suspect with intentionally causing serious bodily harm, endangering life at the moment of the act. According to Part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, this crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to eight years. The court has placed the suspect under round-the-clock house arrest. The investigation is ongoing. The Bilyaivka District Prosecutor's Office is overseeing the proceedings," reported Dmitry Tkachenko, investigator at the Odesa District Police Department No. 2.
