Tragic Incident in Odesa Region: Child's Death

In the Odesa region, specifically in the Berezivka district, a one-year-old boy has died after being hospitalized with severe injuries. His mother has been detained on suspicion of assaulting the child.

This information was reported by the National Police of Odesa region.

The day before, the boy's 26-year-old mother brought him to the hospital in a state of unconsciousness. Doctors diagnosed him with a brain contusion and old fractures of the shoulder and elbow.

The mother explained her son's condition by claiming he "fell off the bed." Unfortunately, the child later passed away.

“During the investigation, police uncovered that the woman had been dishonest and clarified that she had inflicted injuries on the child while he was crying,” stated the authorities.

The woman was arrested and charged under Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for causing serious bodily harm. Police noted that she faces a “significant prison term.”

The court has chosen a preventive measure of detention for the suspect.

As part of the investigation, authorities have ordered several expert examinations, including a forensic medical examination to determine the exact cause of the child's death.

Additionally, it is worth mentioning that in Ternopil region, a woman was convicted for intentionally stabbing her three-year-old son in the eye, resulting in the boy losing sight in one eye.
