Solidarity Forum in Kyiv: Steps Towards Recovery
On April 16, Kyiv hosted the International Solidarity Forum, gathering representatives from the Ukrainian government, international organizations, and local authorities. The main focus of the event was joint efforts for the country’s recovery.
The forum was opened by the Deputy Prime Minister for Recovery — the Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine, Oleksii Kuleba, who emphasized that communities are the cornerstone of the country's resilience.
Kuleba also announced financial support for frontline communities — 1.5 billion hryvnias allocated last week and another 1.8 billion this week. During the forum, participants discussed recovery strategies, and international partners reaffirmed their willingness to provide further support, notably through UNDP and Japan, which has already provided over 12 billion dollars to Ukraine.
From the Odesa region, the Deputy Head of Odesa OVA, Andrii Hihiel, participated in the forum.
Key highlights of the forum:
— Communities are the foundation of resilience. They are the first to face the challenges of war, ensuring basic services and supporting the population and military;
— The “Shoulder to Shoulder” initiative. Over 450 communities have united to implement joint recovery projects, from schools to medical facilities;
— Financial support for frontline regions. The government allocated 3.3 billion UAH for shelters, equipment, and critical infrastructure;
— International support. Japan has already provided Ukraine with over 12 billion dollars. UNDP and other partners are strengthening assistance;
— The DREAM digital ecosystem. Modern digital tools enable monitoring of the recovery process, managing projects, and enhancing transparency.
Solidarity is strength. It helps maintain order, build future strategies, and restore the country even in the most challenging circumstances.
