Young Offender Charged with Drug Offenses

A 20-year-old offender has been charged and preventive measures have been taken. He faces imprisonment.

Patrol officers stopped a local resident on the Health Route in the afternoon, where he was making «drops» with illegal substances. The investigative group from Police Department No. 2 of the Odesa District Police seized 22 zip bags containing psychotropic substances from the offender's hideouts, which were later confirmed by rapid tests.

Investigators detained the offender and found that he was receiving illegal goods through the internet, packaging them at home, and distributing them via «drops». He documented the locations on his mobile phone, which has also been confiscated, and sent addresses and photos to buyers.

According to investigator Marina Yermolenko, sufficient evidence has led to charges under parts 1 and 2 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for illegal acquisition, storage with intent to distribute, and illegal sale of psychotropic substances, including repeat offenses. The court chose preventive detention with an option for bail set at 60,565 UAH. According to current legislation, the offender faces up to 10 years of imprisonment with property confiscation.

During the pre-trial investigation, police will identify individuals involved in drug trafficking. The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the Primorsky District Prosecutor's Office in Odesa.
