Temporary Ban on Herring Fishing in Odesa Region

In the Odesa region, a temporary ban on industrial herring fishing will be in effect from April 20 to May 9, 2025. This restriction applies to specific areas of the Danube and Dniester rivers, as well as the Dniester estuary. This was reported by the «Odesa Fish Protection Patrol».
The restrictions will be in effect in the following areas:
- from April 20 to April 29 — Danube River: from the mouth to the branching of the Tulchin mouth;
- from April 20 to May 9 — Danube River: upstream against the current from the branching of the Tulchin mouth;
- from April 20 to April 29 — Dniester River: from the village of Palanka to the Dubosary Hydroelectric Power Station dam;
- from April 20 to April 24 — Dniester estuary, Turunchuk arm, and the main channel of the Dniester River: from the mouth to the village of Palanka (mark 28 km).
This ban is implemented to preserve fish populations during the spawning period. Compliance with the restrictions will be monitored by the Odesa Fish Protection Patrol.
Violating these rules may lead to administrative or criminal liability under current legislation.
