New Inclusive Toilets to be Installed in Odesa

08 April 2025

Odesa is set to unveil new automated toilets tailored for individuals with disabilities. This initiative was discussed during a meeting of the Accessibility Council chaired by the city's mayor, Henadiy Trukhanov.

In response to the request from the Accessibility Council's expert group, the Department of Municipal Affairs examined the implementation of such facilities in Ukraine, particularly in the capital.

During the meeting, a module featuring two stalls was presented: one is spacious enough to accommodate wheelchair users or parents with strollers. The metal anti-corrosion stall is equipped with an automatic cleaning system, motion sensors for each function, and an automatic unlock system after 15 minutes. It also includes a call button for the operator and a module for cashless payments.

The proposal to install these automatic modular toilets at Soborna Square, in the City Garden, on Prymorsky Boulevard, and on the Ukrainian Heroes Avenue will be brought before the Odesa City Council.
